"United Borders" Canadian Sponsored Happy Hour at the 2013 NWCB Convention - Rancho Las Palmas, CA
Thanks to ALL Contractors, Dealers and Manufacturers from BC and Alberta, who contributed towards the “United Borders” Canadian Hosted Happy Hour.
Without your commitment and contributions toward the unique event, it would not have been as successful and the "Highlight" of the convention!! In the words of some individuals south of the border, "it dropped walls" between groups.
This new event eliminates previous "Hosted" parties that ultimately segregated and separated groups, causing an underlying separation within our industry. This event brought all industry groups together to mingle and have great conversations, as equals.
Well done everyone! This event "Removed all Boundaries” and was a huge success!

BCWCA 2012 AGM
The BC Wall & Ceiling Association held it's 2012 Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Newlands Golf and Country Club, Langley, BC. Cathy LaPointe of Dryco Systems was voted in as President and Jordan Oliver of Kelowna Lite Kast was voted in as Vice President. The highlight of the meeting is the Joe Whitehead Award for 2011 which went to Peter Gallagher of Gallagher Brothers Contractors Ltd., presented by John Warrington the 2011 recipient. Peter is the President of the AWCC and has for the past year chaired the Technical Committee which has revised the AWCC Specifications Standards Manual and moved the manual to an online accessible format.

Award Background
The Joe Whitehead Award was established many years ago as a recognition award for the Wall & Ceiling industry in BC. Joe was the publisher of the Journal of Commerce beginning in the 1950's. He started The Trowel Magazine in August 1953, and it has been in continuous publication since that date. Joe loved our industry, and of any segment of construction, he thought the Wall & Ceiling industry to be the best. Joe Whitehead passed away in January of 2002.
The Joe Whitehead Memorial Award is given each year to the person whose character and commitment on behalf of the Association best exemplifies Joe's enthusiasm for this industry in British Columbia.
